What is Speech and Language Therapy?

Speech and language therapy is provided by a Speech and Language Pathologist to individuals who present with a variety of communication difficulties which can effect their listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. Some individuals may also present with difficulties in socialization, voice, swallowing or feeding. In a private setting, therapy can be tailored towards very specific needs, on a 1:1 basis, which will allow for a very personal, intensive and individualized therapeutic design. In addition, private therapy can aim to improve the client’s abilities in an efficient and speedy manner, when clients are dedicated and demonstrate commitment to overall success.

What are Elective Services?

Elective services provided by a Speech Language Pathologist are those which do not treat an individuals speech, but help modify the speech production of a non-disordered individual. At this time, we are providing Accent Modification Services for those non-native or regional accented individuals who wish to reduce their accent. Currently, we provide this service using an evidence-based program, which has been found to reduce accented speech by at least 50% in highly motivated and dedicated individuals. We believe hard work, perseverance and the right instructor, is a recipe for success.
